For The Medical Professionals
Pediatric Palliative Care focuses on children, prenatal to young adult (age 21), with complex or serious medical conditions and their families, enhancing quality of life in partnership with the existing care team. Pediatric Palliative Care helps through all stages of illness. It is best introduced early, but is beneficial anytime to the primary care plan. The palliative care team works in collaboration with the child’s other health care providers and specialists, helping to provide seamless care coordination and communication. There is no cost to the patient and family. Any billable services are through Medicaid or commercial insurance.
Pediatric Palliative Care does not give up hope or stop disease modifying treatments. Pediatric Palliative Care is different from Pediatric Hospice. If you are interested in Pediatric Hospice, please refer to our Pediatric Comfort Care section.
